An advanced course about teaching special populations that enables teacher candidates to build on the knowledge, skills, and strategies acquired during preliminary preparation for teaching students with special needs.

Teaching English Learners - EDTP 449

This course in first and second language acquisition deals with an overview of some aspects of linguistic theories. The course further deals with language acquisition theories, legal implications, and accountability factors related to language learning among both native and non-native speakers of English. Delivery of instruction, school/district programs and services, assessment and accountability, and inclusionary practices for English language learners are emphasized in this course. Fieldwork is required.
