Online MBA in Financial Planning

California Lutheran University's MBA in Financial Planning is intended to meet the needs of service professionals who are working in financing and other related fields and how are dealing with an increasing demand for financial advising.

Salary - According to a 1999 Newsday, Inc. article, the average annual salary for a certified financial planner practitioner is $66,000, ranging from $30,000 for entry-level professionals to $200,000 for more experienced professionals.

Program Descripton

The MBA in Financial Planning prepares students to serve in the real world of financial planning by combining formal education, research and analysis with experience and ethics. The rigorous MBA-Financial Planning curriculum is centered on students' personal and professional long-term success, and gives students the key advantage of preparation for the CFP® Certification Examination.

In order to eligible for our MBA you must have a Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, a previously earned master's degree or a significant amount of professional experience in financial services evaluated on a case by case basis.

The MBA program consists of eight general MBA courses and eight financial planning courses totaling 48 credits (3 credits per course) that are offered year-round in four 11-week terms. A Capstone course is included in this program. Upon successful completion of this curriculum, and in recognition for your achievement in completing your MBA, California Lutheran University will invite you to participate in graduation ceremonies on the CLU campus in Thousand Oaks California, room and board expenses paid.

Online Learning at California Lutheran University

CLU online courses are taught using a state-of-the-art program called LearningEdge Live Classroom. This program is designed specifically for classroom meetings over the Internet and creates a virtual face-to-face classroom. Instructors and students meet online, speak to one another, display Powerpoint presentations, videos, and even write on a whiteboard. After class, students have the option to review classroom discussion by accessing the virtual archive record.  Outside of the classroom, students have the same interactive options, including virtual student lounges where students can meet to discuss classroom assignments, or develop group projects.

Online classrooms at CLU usually consist of less than 20 students.

Among other awards and accolades, California Lutheran University recently won the USDLA (United States Distance Learning Association) 2007 Silver Award for Excellence in Distance Learning.
