Description

The BCRJ degree consists of 42 - 43 semester hours of General Education courses; 27 - 33 CRJ core courses from an associate degree program; 36 semester hour credits in the course major, including 21 credits in Criminal Justice, communications and social sciences and 15 semester hours of 300 level and above in CRJ, psychology, sociology and political science; and 12 general elective credit hours. A maximum of 64 semester hours of credits may be transferred from an associate level degree program. Anderson University is accredited by SACS, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As such, a degree from Anderson is a prestigious, accredited degree.

Philosophy & History

Anderson University has an interesting history. It was originally established as a women's college prior to the Civil War. Its founder was the first president of the Southern Baptist Convention, the Reverend William B. Johnson. The school closed during the war, but reopened in 1910, and in 1930 became a coeducational institution.
