Anderson University Testimonials

As an actively working professional, I had searched for a program which would incorporate the associate's degree I had already earned from Tri-County Technical College. In 2004, I learned that Anderson University was considering offering Criminal Justice for prospective students with Criminal Justice associate degrees. The ACCEL program was a perfect fit for me, as it allowed time for work, education, and family.

I graduated magna cum laude in December of 2006, and over the course of 2007 I was consistently given greater responsibilities within the Anderson City Police Department. Around September of 2007, the Police Department held a promotional process for lieutenants, a mid-level management position, and the test was comprised of several factors. There was a written examination and an oral interview board, and education, experience, and prior performance evaluations were considered. The ACCEL program was excellent preparation and gave me a significant advantage, as the focus was on written and oral communication. I was selected as the top overall candidate for lieutenant in December of 2007, where I presently serve as the second in command of Support Services.

I have also become an adjunct instructor of Criminal Justice for Tri-County Technical College, attributable to my experience and education, which has enriched my life, allowing me the opportunity to share my knowledge with the next generation of police officers.

I believe that the ACCEL program has had a significant positive impact on my personal and professional life, and I look forward to the possibility of AU's ACCEL program offering a master's program in the future.
