About Bennett College Online

Bennett College is a small, private, historically Black liberal arts college for women. Bennett's 55 acre campus is located in Greensboro, North Carolina, a city that boasts a number of cultural activities and venues just a short distance from the campus. Conveniently located near The Piedmont-Triad International Airport, the campus is easily accessible from Interstates 40 and 85.

The Bennett College for Women Online Program is designed primarily to meet universal general education degree requirements. Thus, the online courses seek to create and sustain an academic eLearning community whose participants develop the intellectual skills and habits that characterize a liberal arts education. The general education course offerings and other specified courses aim to offer the following: (1) integrative and experiential approaches to learning, including critical, connected and creative thinking; (2) understanding and appreciation of interdisciplinary, multicultural and international aspects of knowledge; (3) a knowledge base across a broad range of disciplines; (4) the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas; (5) development of the whole person in the context of African American Heritage; (6) formulation of a value system and willingness to act on it; and (7) self-directed, independent learning that fosters an inquiring mind.

Accreditation

Bennett College receives its accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (COC/SACS), which allows the College to grant baccalaureate degrees.  The school also maintains accreditation/affiliations with the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
