
Administrative Certification Program - School Principal
The University of the Cumberlands' School Principal program of study is designed for individuals who have a master's degree in education, a valid teacher's license, and have graduated from an institution of higher learning with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Additional requirements include having successfully completed the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program or having three years full-time teaching experience, two of which are from outside the state of Kentucky. Candidates must have an official transcript on file with the University's Registrar's Office and be accepted by the Graduate Admissions Committee for entry.
The course requirements for candidates seeking certification as a School Principal Level I consist of an eighteen hour program of studies. Level II certification (for certificate renewal) requires an additional twelve hours of course work.
The requirements for certification as a School Principal include the following:
- A master's degree in education;
- Qualification for a Kentucky classroom teaching certificate;
- Kentucky candidates must pass the Kentucky Specialty Test of Instructional and Administration Practice;
- All candidates must pass the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA);
- A 3.0 G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale;
- A completed application including an official college/university transcript(s), 3 letters of recommendation and acceptance by the Graduate Admissions Committee;
- The curriculum contract must be completed and approved by the Graduate Advisor, Director of Graduate Program and Registrar prior to exiting the program.
- The candidate must also complete a TC1 for Rank I status or certification.
