
Masters of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.)
The University of the Cumberlands offers a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree which is designed for qualified individuals who do not have initial certification or teaching licensure, but have graduated from an accredited institution of higher learning with a grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or higher. Candidates must have a transcript on file with the University's Registrar's Office and be accepted by the Graduate Admissions Committee for entry into this program.
Interested U.S. Military personnel should review the Troops to Teachers (TTT) program, which may be completed through the University of the Cumberlands' MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) program. The MAT program requires 39 - 42 credit hours, depending upon the program of study. Program options for the MAT include:
- Elementary (P-5 Certification)
- Middle School (5-9 Certification)
- Secondary (8-12 Certification in English, Math or Social Studies)
- 5-12 (Certification in Business & Marketing)
- P-12 (Certification in Art, Health, Integrated Music, or Physical Education)
- Special Education (P-12 Certification in Learning & Behavior Disorders or "LBD")
