Charleston Southern University - Heritage and Prestige
Charleston Southern University is located near the beautiful historic town of Charleston close to the coastline of South Carolina. The school was founded in 1964 and today is one of the largest independent universities in the state.
What was once the site of rice and indigo plantations is now the beautiful campus of Charleston Southern University covering over 300 acres well in the path of modern growth of the Charleston metropolitan area. Mild weather, gorgeous gardens, vast plantations and sandy beaches going on for miles attract not only visitors but also students from SC and surrounding states.
Since its inception, CSU has been consistent in providing excellent education and guidance to all students of various denominations who seek personal and professional advancements and who intend to contribute to the progress of their respective communities. Loyal to its affiliation with the South Carolina Baptist Convention, CSU is continuing to improve its academic offerings, grow as a higher education institution and enhance the lives of students and alumni through an integrated curriculum based on solid cultural, social and spiritual values.
CSU shows great care and support for all of its students – over 3,200 as of Fall ’07. Above all other elements integrated in the educational platform reign values and ethics, communication, leadership, service and wellness. These five life preparation concepts are the symbols of the university’s philosophy, mission and creed.
Charleston Southern University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees. At CSU, there are over 30 undergraduate and graduate programs including business, criminal justice and education.
CSU is constantly working hard to expand its online and evening division. Currently, CSU offers a Bachelor’s in Management Arts, a BS in Criminal Justice, a BS in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Technology. All programs are designed to incorporate fundamental disciplines and liberal arts courses to better prepare students for the real world, personally and professionally.
Outside their academic activities, students may also take part in many other fun events, ministerial functions and services. The sports at CSU are going strong: students can play basketball, volleyball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis and softball, or they can participate in cross country and track and field competitions.
Everything at CSU says “Welcome!” – The nature, weather, extra-curriculum opportunities, academic offerings and overall quality of living and education. So, visit us, give us a chance to show you around and to welcome you into our big and beautiful family.
