Emmaus Bible College is a private evangelical Bible College located on the Mississippi River in Dubuque, Iowa. Emmaus Bible College Ministries exist to teach and disseminate the Word of God by preparing and equipping leaders and workers in churches that are part of the Plymouth Brethren movement, as well as others who seek to benefit from the ministries of the College.

The Online Division of Emmaus Bible College meets the increasing need for higher education through distance learning. EmmausOnline offers two distinct learning tracks.  Students on the Academic Learning Track work toward a One Year Certificate in Biblical Studies.  The courses taken are the same as those taken by the College's on-campus students.  The In-depth Bible Study Learning Trackoffers the same courses as the academic track with the exception that college credit cannot be earned.

The mission of Emmaus Bible College, under the authority of Scripture and within the context of a Biblical worldview, is to develop students spiritually, intellectually, personally and vocationally and equip them for responsible and productive Christian lives through college-level programs.

The Emmaus Heritage

The school's name, pronounced e-may-us, appears just once in the Bible in Luke 24:13.  Although Emmaus was a very small village, the events that occurred near there make its name one to be remembered. Three days after the death of the Lord Jesus, two of His disciples were walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus. They were depressed that their Master had been killed and worried that He could not be found. The Lord joined them in their walk, talked to them about His resurrection and showed them in all the Scripture "the things concerning Himself."  These disciples, later reporting the incident to other disciples, recounted with joy, "Did not our hearts burn within us? While He talked with us by the way and while He opened to us the Scripture?" (Luke 24:32).

Thus,  the name Emmaus reflects the purpose of the College as a place where young men and women come to have the Scriptures opened to them, where they learn "the things concerning Himself."
