BUS 221 Macroeconomics
A macro-economic approach to economic analysis of markets, prices, and supply and demand through the grid of social issues. The relationship between economics and social justice issues and the role of Christians in the marketplace is discussed. Three hours.
HIS 114 World History to 1550
This global history course will examine important developments in the civilizations of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Western Hemisphere from pre-history to the beginning of the development of world trade in the 16th century. Meta-themes investigated will include: human origins and human cultures, settling down, empire and imperialism, and the movement of goods and peoples. An emphasis will be placed on showing how these meta-themes are manifested in cultures throughout the world. This fulfills the history component of the social science liberal arts requirement. Three hours.
MUL 100 Appreciation of Music
A general education course that seeks to expand the student's knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the art music of our culture. Exposure to great art music and knowledge of objective criteria for evaluating it, give the student the advantage of sound judgment, both in his own aesthetic choices and in his evaluation of the choices of others. The course is designed specifically to raise the level of awareness of the student to the world around him and to the art music that surrounds him. Not open to music majors. Three hours
BHS 252 Leadership Principles of Development
Students will be instructed in the principles of biblical leadership as well as contrasting those principles with secular leadership. Areas of training for the leader will be vision, mission and purpose, leadership styles, communication, organization management, inspiration/motivation, ethics, performance/evaluation, and spiritual/servant leadership. As well, students will spend time observing leadership in action and will "do" leadership through service on the campus and in the community. (Home Department–BHS. Register as BHS252.) Three hours.
SCI 236 Introduction to Astronomy
A survey of our created universe: the solar system, types of stars, constellations, and galactic distribution. Emphasis on night observation, laboratory, and individual projects. Three hours.
