Certificate in Intelligence Analysis

Now, more than ever, skilled intelligence analysts are needed to assess and manage information dealing with critical issues such as international terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, climate change, organized crime, immigration, or the spread of infectious diseases. By preparing assessments based on the collection, correlation and analysis of intelligence data, analysts manage and provide critical information for use by planners and decision makers.
The intelligence studies program at Notre Dame College was founded in 2003 in order to prepare students for careers in the rapidly growing field of intelligence analysis, and was the first program of this kind in Ohio. Now the Center for Intelligence Studies, the program began offering the Certificate in Intelligence Analysis in 2004. An undergraduate program in Intelligence Analysis and Research began in 2005, and a second certificate program, in Competitive (Business) Intelligence was added in 2006. Students earning a Certificate in Intelligence Analysis will complete the following courses: Introduction to Intelligence Analysis, Research and Analysis, Writing and Briefing, and Terrorism. A certificate can be earned in less than a year.

Skills: Effective writing and briefing skills, research methodologies, computer skills, understanding of the intelligence cycle, production of professional analytic reports, and effective communication of information to decision or policy makers.
