St. Andrews Pipe Band Wins Loch Norman

Laurinburg, N.C. - The St. Andrews Presbyterian College Pipe Band completed a perfect season by winning the Loch Norman Highland Games in Huntersville on Saturday.

The band placed first in the Grade III band competition beating the Atlanta Pipe Band, the Charleston Police Pipe Band and the North Carolina State University Pipe Band.

"This completes this academic year's competitions," said Pipe Major Bill Caudill. "We are proud that we won all contests entered this year."

Those competitions included Charleston in September, the Stone Mountain Highland Games in October, the quartet win at Waxhaw and the Loch Norman win.

"Our band represented St. Andrews well and band members also took prizes in solo competition," Caudill said.

In Grade II competition, Luke Afman and Charly Slagle finished third and fifth respectively in March, Strathspey and Reel. Caudill finished third in March, fourth in Strathspey and Reel and fourth in Piobaireachd for the professional competitors.
