Spring Choir Concert Scheduled at St. Andrews
Laurinburg, N.C. - Music will fill Avinger Auditorium as the St. Andrews Presbyterian College Concert and Chamber Choirs perform a spring concert on Sunday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is free and open to the public.
"We enjoy the opportunity to perform for the local community," said Dr. William McConnell, associate professor of music and associate dean for adult and extended programs. "While we perform frequently for local churches, community organizations and churches throughout the region, this is an opportunity to share our love for vocal music in a forum open to everyone."
Instructor of music Sean Moore will provide the piano accompaniment for the performance with Andrew Pittman serving as assistant conductor of the choirs.
"The music for this performance will range from sacred to silly," McConnell said. "There will be movements from Mozart's Missa Brevis in B Flat as well as selections from musical theatre hits such as Ain't Misbehavin', Oliver, and Spamalot. Styles will range from 17th century Italian Madrigals to spirituals to This Masquerade originally sung by George Benson."
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Avinger Auditorium on the St. Andrews Presbyterian College campus.
