Union College

Union College - Heritage and Prestige

Nestled in Southeastern Kentucky within the Appalachian Mountain area, surrounded by four state parks, waterfalls, lakes, and streams stands Union College. Union College was founded in 1879 in Barbourville, KY, an area inhabited by 450 people who understood the importance of unity not only in faith but also in education. Hardships abounded and daily survival tended to take precedence over any other objective. However, the town of Barbourville looked into the future and sought hope through higher education.

Today, Union College is one of the supporting pillars of Barbourville and continues to be affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Young adults find that Union College's liberal arts curriculum enables them to become skillful and knowledgeable professionals whose lives are guided by the Word of the Bible and whose goals and passions are certainly within their reach.

Over time, the town of Barbourville, KY has opened its welcoming arms to more than 600 undergraduates and over 1000 graduate students from 24 states and 14 foreign countries. Union College's liberal arts education has historically established a solid path to success for all students upon graduation and continues to support all traditional and nontraditional learners in fulfilling their potential and reaching new heights in personal and professional development.

The academic curriculum at Union College covers fields like applied science, natural science, social science and humanities.  The graduate program also offers advanced degrees in education and psychology.
The beautiful grounds at Union College spread over 100 acres and host 20 campus buildings. Among those, there is a state-of-the-art tech center, an academic center and a student apartment complex that boards almost half of Union's undergraduate students.

Union's span of inter and extracurricular activities is quite wide - from sporting events to spiritual growth seminars. The College also enjoys a strong intercollegiate relationship, which enables it to participate in basketball, cycling, swimming, track and field, tennis, golf and soccer competitions.

Very little experiences are more rewarding and fulfilling than attending a well established college with as rich a history and tradition as Union College. Students at Union College get the chance to enjoy a socially-inviting environment, benefit from a variety of student services and form close relationships with faculty-all factors in what Union calls its 1:1 education.  Union College would like to invite you to experience an education built around your needs.
